Brief updates from the Basic Services
- IAM4NFDI
- The IAM team is working on the implementation of the Infrastructure Proxy, which will allow easy integration of NFDI-wide services that are intended to be used by more than one consortium or community AAI. It also integrates well with the future edu-ID-based lifelong research identity solution. A staging instance of this important component of the NFDI AAI is currently being tested in a proof of concept. The final product is expected to be available for production use cases by the end of 2024.
- A total of 11 project applications were received for the 2nd IAM4NFDI incubator cycle, which were presented in a joint working meeting on July 11. The incubator cycles give NFDI communities the opportunity to contribute ideas and requirements for their respective AAI use cases and to develop a solution with consulting from IAM. More background information on the IAM incubator projects can be found at https://incubators.nfdi-aai.de/
- New publication available: “Service description, operation concept and TOM” (https://zenodo.org/records/13149756)
- TS4NFDI
- Integration proposal submitted. The integration phase will be driven a) by expanding the scope of TS4NFDI to incorporate new features, terminologies, and terminology sources to align with the needs of the scientific user communities and b) a Service Portal for users and communities to customise key aspects of the terminology services.
- In addition the first results of the requirement analysis were published (https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.13118682) The requirement analysis will be finished this month.
- PID4NFDI
- Integration proposal submitted. Plans include setting up a PID Coordination Hub with all kinds of NFDI-relevant information on PIDs, to i.a. foster the adoption of existing PID Provider Services within NFDI and enhance metadata quality and interoperability. A special focus will be set on collaborations with the ELN WG and DMP4NFDI, as well as emerging PIDs as use cases.
- The PID4NFDI project website, managed by the PID4NFDI team, is now online: https://pid.services.base4nfdi.de/
- Meet the Team! NFDI4Memory Community Forum in Halle/Saale (Sep 18), FDM@Campus Göttingen (Sep 23-25), NFDI4DS Hackathon in Cologne (Oct 28-30)
- KGI4NFDI
- Earlier this summer, the upcoming KGI services were presented at the Second NFDI Berlin-Brandenburg network meeting: Ontologies and Knowledge Graphs on July 11th, and the presentation slides can be accessed here: https://zenodo.org/records/12744378
- The KGI4NFDI team also hosted its internal kick off workshop in Berlin at the FIZ Karlsruhe campus and planned next steps with regards to setting up an initial access point to the service hub, as well as outlining user scenarios, personas and learning goals in partnership with the relevant Base4NFDI officers. The service and further updates will be presented at the upcoming EOSC Symposium in October and the Base4NFDI User Conference in November. Join the team there with questions and feedback!
- DMP4NFDI
- A busy three months: the DMP team provided RDMO clients for their current use cases in Initialisation phase (NFDI4Culture, NFDI4Memory, NFDI4Earth, MaRDI). Next step: the test environments need to be adjusted by the consortia according to their individual needs, in collaboration with the basic service team.
- On September 30, the team hosts their first Use Cases (online) workshop, Introducing a prototype of the intended NFDI template framework and feedback collected, and continuing ongoing work on RDMO catalogue templates.
